Thank you for visiting (Site). This is the Privacy Policy which applies between you (referred to as you or your) and myBuildcompare Pty Ltd ACN 609 386 049 (referred to as myBuildcompare, we, us or our) as operator of the Site. The Privacy Policy will govern your use of the Site.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use your personal information.

We respect the rights and privacy of all individuals and are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APP’s) and protecting the personal information we hold.

The information we collect falls into two categories:

  • personal information you voluntarily supply to us to take advantage of certain features of our Site, some of which may identify you personally; and
  • tracking information we collect as you navigate through our Site.

3. What personal information do we collect?

In some instances, if you do not provide us with required personal information we may not be able to provide you with the requested product or service.

If you provide us with your personal information and you consent to receiving direct marketing communications from us, you authorise us to send you promotional messages and materials related to our products and services, unless you submit a later request not to receive direct marketing communications.

If you do not wish to receive marketing or other communications from us, please submit a request not to receive direct marketing communications or use the unsubscribe facility provided in the most recent communication from us or contact us on the details provided.

7. Will your information be disclosed overseas?

In the unlikely event that we are required to disclose your personal information to any person or entity outside Australia, we will obtain your consent prior to doing so.

Please note that some of the servers on which your personal information is stored may be located overseas.

Where we have obtained your consent to do so, we may also share your personal information with our service providers and other third parties located outside Australia so that they can provide you with any products or services requested by you, including contacting you in relation to the products or services. As these entities may be located outside Australia, they are not required to comply with the Privacy Act and you will not be able to seek any redress under the Privacy Act in connection with the use of your information.

You generally have the right to access your personal information free of charge, subject to some limitations contained in the Privacy Act.

The APPs set out some circumstances in which we are not required to provide you with such access. If you ask for your personal information and any of these circumstances exist, you may be given access to the personal information in a way that is permitted under the Privacy Act.

To protect personal information held by us, you may need to confirm your identity before access to your personal information is granted. It may take a little time to process your application for access and retrieve information from storage (if applicable).

We encourage you to update us so that we have accurate, current and complete information. You may correct any errors or request that we delete all or some of your personal information. You may also submit a request not to have any further contact from us.

9. Cookies and Google Analytics

We use cookies and measurement software and tools on the Site and so do our services providers and third parties such as our analytics, advertising or ad serving partners. We use and disclose the information collected through the use of cookies and measurement software and tools in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This includes using the information to report statistics, analyse trends, administer our services, diagnose problems and target and improve the quality of our products and services. We may allow other third parties to use their own cookies to collect information about your visits to the Site.

We may combine our cookies, information collected through the cookies and web beacons on the Site with other information (including information collected by third parties using their own cookies and providing our cookies and information to third parties) and use analytics services such as Google Analytics – to provide better or more relevant services and advertising to you on the Site (if applicable). We allow some third parties to display widgets and applications on our Site that allow you to interact and share content including social media buttons such as Facebook share and like, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. These linked sites, applications and widgets are not under our control, and we cannot accept responsibility for the conduct of companies linked to the Site, or their collection of information through these third party applications or widgets. Before disclosing your personal information on any other website, or using these applications or widgets we advise you to examine the terms and conditions of using that website and the relevant third party’s data collection practices and controls in their privacy policy.

11. How secure is your personal information?

 We strive to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of personal information we collect. We have established safeguards and use reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. Our employees, contractors, agents and service providers who provide services related to our information systems, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by us. We review and update our security measures in light of current technologies. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure.

We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. Amendments will be effective immediately upon notification on the Site.
